Christmas Old Fashioned Cocktail

For the Christmas Old Fashioned Cocktail:

1. Place pomegranate syrup, a splash of water, pomegranate arils, 3-4 cranberries, and angostura bitters in a glass.
2. Muddle for a few seconds.
3. Add ice.
4. Pour 2 ounces of Rye or Bourbon Whiskey over ice.
5. Garnish with an orange peel and fresh cranberries. Serve with the sugar cranberries (see below) and a rosemary sprig.

For Sugar Cranberries:

1. Combine 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/4 cup of water in a small saucepan.
2. Heat over medium heat and stir until the sugar dissolves. Do not boil.
3. Add 6 ounces of rinsed fresh cranberries and stir to coat evenly.
4. Remove the coated cranberries with a slotted spoon and place them on a wire rack to dry for 1 hour.
5. Roll the dried cranberries in the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar to coat evenly.
6. Pierce with rosemary (if desired for garnish). Serve alongside the Christmas Old Fashioned cocktail.
